Multiple Sunday Times Best Selling Author

I was born in Scotland and grew up in Trinidad in the Caribbean. After moving to England, I finished my education, backpacked around the world then moved to London with everything I owned on the back seat of my car, sleeping on floors to pursue my dream of becoming a writer…

My persistence paid off; I am now the
#1 Sunday Times Best-Selling author of:
This Girl Is On Fire, ‘Confessions of a Good Girl’,
Confessions of a Menopausal Woman’ and
‘You Just Need to Believe It’.

Award-Winning Broadcaster

In my 24-year career as a broadcaster I interviewed some of the biggest names in the business, including Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé, Drew Barrymore, Michael Bublé and Amy Schumer.

Working alongside stellar guest panellists such as Goldie Hawn and Eva Longoria, I hosted ITV’s ratings and multi award-winning live national Daytime chat show Loose Women (the British equivalent of The View) for 13 years, bringing warmth, humour and journalistic skill to the small screen every lunchtime.

Personal Growth Entrepreneur

In December 2020, after serving as the longest reigning host of Loose Women, I decided to pivot career-wise, leaving behind my role as a national television anchor to pursue my passion for service and devote my time to helping midlife women feel great about themselves through my business This Girl Is On Fire.

As an internationally-accredited Life Coach, I bring my years of anchoring TV shows, journalism and writing skills together into my business. I do this through online courses, group coaching sessions, corporate motivational days and my community membership. (available in the App Store and Google Play).

Why did I start
This Girl Is On Fire?

The picture is me in 2019, at the National Television Awards in London.

The programme I hosted for 13 years had been nominated for a prestigious award.

I had gone on my own because I couldn’t face the fun and noise of being with the rest of the team. I cried all the way there, and had a panic attack moments before stepping out the car.

Then the door opened, and I got out and smiled and said hello and waved and did my thing in front of the waiting cameras of nation’s press.

I sat in the auditorium, surrounded by thousands of excited people and waited until our category had been announced.

We didn’t win, and I was relieved because it meant I could quietly slip out the back door to a taxi and go home.

A few months later I had a breakdown.

A few months later I had a breakdown.

People ask me what that felt like. It felt like I had been unraveling for months. That every nerve had been cut and I could feel too much. But at the same time I also couldn’t feel anything.

I did all the things you are supposed to do to help your mental health.

I exercised… but too much.

I ate well… but not enough.

I listened to motivational books and podcasts, encouraging me to keep going and try harder.

One particular one, that I most definitely don’t listen to any more, barked that “Quitting is for losers!” so I pushed on. Until I couldn’t any more.

When I look back at this picture it makes me sad to see how shrunken I look. My eyes are wrong. My face doesn’t even look like my face.

This is me now, in 2022.

I look like me. I feel like me.

Life is still stressful, of course it is. But my head is clear. Most of the time.

The difference between now and then is I had therapy to deal with things in my past that I had tried to squash down and not look at. I had (and still have) coaching to help me get excited and plan for my future.

I now help others do the same.

I left my career and changed my life so that could follow my passion for service. To feed my curiosity about who we are, why we do what we do, and to help others feel good about themselves.

In 2019 I didn’t think I could ever feel good again.

In 2022, when I have days that feel hard and dark, I know that it will pass. I don’t push on, I pause and rest, because quitting isn’t for losers. It means you have simply stopped doing what isn’t serving you.

It is a power move.

I know how invaluable changing your mindset is when it comes to making any kind of change to your life. That’s why I created This Girl Is On Fire, so that you can do the same. I offer courses, coaching and bring together the best mentors and motivational speakers in the world to help you make a commitment to yourself to get consistent with your effort, with a supportive community to help you on your way.

I know it works. Now it’s your turn.
